Welcome to the Oceano Community Plan update website! A team of graduate students from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is updating the Oceano Community Plan in collaboration with the people of Oceano. This site functions as a resource for the community to follow along and get engaged throughout the planning process. Public participation is paramount in creating a vision for the community, and you are invited to share your thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

Every city and county in California is required by law to prepare a comprehensive, long term plan to guide its future development. The Governor's Office of Planning and Research recommends that communities update their plans every ten years. A Community Plan not only serves as a blueprint for growth, but can establish a vision for developing a community's unique character and identity.
An update includes a number of mandatory and optional elements. The Oceano Community Plan is addressing the following:
